PGT WinGuard Impact-Resistant Windows and Doors combine heavy-duty
aluminum frames with impact-resistant laminated glass. A special
silicone glazing keeps the glass from breaking away from the
frame. Although the glass may crack on impact, the interlayer
keeps the glass intact, preventing destructive wind from entering
your home.

In considering glass options, it’s valuable to compare
how various options affect solar heat gain and visible light
transmittance. Reducing solar heat gain can save on air conditioning
bills. Reducing visible light transmittance – that is the
brightness of the daylight entering a home – may or may
not be a desired effect.
